Employment law for small and medium-sized businesses.
LAS (the Swedish Employment Protection Act), collective agreements, employment contracts and terminations – all in one place, with an AI lawyer trained on exactly the questions that arise when you, as an SME employer, handle HR matters.
The most common questions
The questions we see again and again from users in this role.
When do we have 'just cause' for termination?
LAS section 7 requires just cause. Misconduct must be documented, warned against, and not resolvable through reassignment. We walk through the burden of proof and Labour Court (AD) case law.
Must we follow a collective agreement even though we're not bound by one?
Not directly – but 'minimum' terms can creep in via non-compete clauses, industry practice and the Posting of Workers Act. We show where the boundaries lie.
How do we handle seniority order (turordning) in a redundancy?
LAS section 22 – seniority pools, the exemption for up to 2 employees per pool (LAS section 22a), and reassignment under section 7, second paragraph. We go through the risks step by step.
What applies when working hours or workplace location change?
Managerial prerogative has limits – substantial changes require termination plus a new contract. The 'sauna bather' principle, the 29/29 rule and Section 11 of the Co-Determination Act (MBL) govern this.
